Michael's death will rake in the dough in many respects for years to come, and just like Elvis why shouldn't it!

I wonder if AEG Live will be footing the costs for this spectacle? It owns the Staples Center and is Jackson's promoter. The costs will be phenominal for traffic control, police to ensure security, emergency medical services, etc. The taxpaying citizens should not be saddled with covering these costs and the city should refuse to underwrite them. In addition to the many things that contribute to Jackson's image, he was also a drug-abusing, child molesting pervert. Should these deficits be ignored ~ or should they have equal impact on his life and legacy as they would accrue to any ordinary citizen?

Let me set the record straight. Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer/video performer of all time. But was just a man, not a God, who had a very serious and now we know, fatal drug habit. The bottom line is that he was a drug addict who died of an overdose of the powerful medicines Oxycotine and Demerol, which taken consistantly and over a period of time, using those drugs, will create a 'train-wreck' effect in the heart and arteries and will soon kill you. Rehabilitation Course 101! That's was the reason for his death and he chose to take those fatal drugs himself. Nobody forced Michael Jackson to do anything he didn't want to. And Micheal was the only one who destroy his life, all the way to death, period.

What I would like to know is why do all these entertainers still surround themselves onstage with second tier clone dancers, laser lights and pyrotechnics? Don't they have enough talent to stand out there on their own? This crap started with Madonna and it's time to return to real music and real talent.

Amen to that. Your comment reminds me of the final scene in a movie called Pure Country. George Strait played a CW superstar who had all that hoopla. At the end, he pushed it all away, walked downstage, sat and sang a song to the woman he loved sans the lights, buzzers and bells. The song and the singer stood on their own merrit.

                          jdd and just me -

You're both so right. Most of these "pop stars" have little to no talent to begin with. They surround themselves with others and create a deafening show.

In the end, it doesn't matter, because the audience is really just a crowd of screaming, jumping people who aren't even listening to the music. The entertainer could be lipsynching and the crowd would never even know it.

isn't it just wonderful how we idolise and memoralise PEDIFILES in this country. then we wonder why is america in the trouble it is in. well just look at todays hero's. dog fighters, drug using sports stars, sports figures high and killing pedestrians, illegal guns and shooting themselves, self serving polititians who molest children or try to pick up people in rest rooms, financers who defraud the public, banks that take stimulus money to help people then raise their rates, no room for god in courts or public buildings. take a good hard look people you get what you want but there is a price to pay.

Dont bother going to the memorial at Staples Center...I am sure it will be out on DVD at a "small" fee with all the proceeds going to Sharpton and Jesse. The land of opportunity.....gotta love it!!! LA get ready for a little riot for the people that show up and dont get one of the 20,000 tickets. Why wouldnt they look what happened when the Lakers won the championship....the celebration included burning cars and other acts of vandalism. People in LA should take a lesson from Pittsburgh when they won the SB and Stanley cup. They celebrated but I didnt see any reports of burning cars or vandalism. Not a Steeler fan but have to give the fan base credit

Wow!  The media is milking this MJ thing for all its worth.  When will the end come?  Why do we have to drag out events like this for days on end?  I don't remember any Presidents passing creating such a monoply of air time unless it was Kennedy.  I guess the media figures they do it because they can but we don't have to watch and listen.  I for one have control of my airtime.

MJ never wanted to grow up which is why his body's age caught up with his delusional mind and the drugs he used to remain in denial. There is nothing to emulate here. Additionally, these kind of people think themselves as Kings and Queens....calling their children such things as "Princess", "Royal", "Prince", etc... It's time to shut these people and this attitude down as it promotes a "class" mindset. You Democrats do remember what "equality" is don't you????

So now Jerry Brown, has been, is involved as well? Where's Al Gore when you need him? Why don't they just move the event to a bigger arena? If they're going to make a spectacle out of it, then they might as well rent a space big enough to contain it.

It would have been far better & more tasteful to hold a private memorial service with just family & close friends, & then follow with a benefit concert of Michael's songs performed by the remaining Jacksons & other close friend entertainers for the rest of his fans to attend with background slide shows of Michael's past performances. That's my idea of a tribute & public memorial. Needless to say I won't be attending the public spectacle. Even if I lived next door, I don't feel it honors the best of the man & I think it crass - The Staples Center? Give me a break. I wouldn't want my service in something that looks like a shopping mall. So much for Michael's last wishes... What was the point? No honor among thieves.

I have difficulty conjuring up an image of the Jackson family, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton knowing the definition of taste.

But, I do agree that a private service is more fitting ... like Ed McMahon's or Farrah Fawcett's. Two class acts in life and in death.

The state Attorney General (JB) had no choice. As there is a good possibility that there is medical malpractice due to medications involved, his office has to investigate.

"Memorials will be held in other cities"? Coming soon to an arena near you!! Michael Jackson's Death Tour 2009!!!!. They can set the urn with his ashes center stage and choreograph a whole show around it. Lots more money to be made from this poor guy. What's next, "Michael Jackson - The Musical"? Whatever your feelings about him personally, he certainly deserves a more dignified final chapter than what he is receiving now.

Wow! Such a big event for a child molester. The funny thing is over the last 10 years he hasn't done anything musically. Most of the people attending this bullsh*t gathering are doing so just to say they attended. Also can any of you idiots attending please tell me how he impacted your life?

Oh yeah....one more thing.....Neverland will never become a Memorial because it is associated in too many minds with Pedophilia. You don't pay off millions of dollars to a family if you're wrongly accused.....period.

All you fools waving in the air, hugging and kissing each other need to wake up!
