Some women in the business argue that, as long as the hosts remain almost exclusively male, so will the writers.

Yawn! Must be a slow day!
very few women make it inside the writing rooms for late-night television hosts, despite that women make up a larger proportion of their audience than men.
I'm not sure what one has to do with the other....
But what ever the reason there aren't more female writers CAN NOT POSSIBLY BE that most women don't have the knack of writing/being funny? <GASP!> Did I say that out-loud?
hmmm, maybe because they aren't funny?
90% of comedy is raunchiness and toilet humor
The otherr 10% is the garbage that Ellen D and Margaret Cho dump out of their mouths. When a woman comedian sells out a stadium, get back to me.
I hate to agree, but I have never found any comediennes to be particularly funny. I find women funny in movies or sitcoms, but as stand up comics, no. I don't know why.
Some women comedians are funny, but male and female comediens take a completely different slant when they delve into gender issues. How many female comediens have a regular "men are pigs" routine? I never hear an equivalent of that line from men. So, it's clear that female comediens cater largely to women because women prefer to laugh more at the stupidity of all men than at fecal shake jokes. Male comediens are able to cater to both sexes.
As the other poster wrote, tell me when there is a big female comedy act.
Ok...Who is the richest, most powerful, and influential person on TV today...Hmmm, let's think about that...Hmmmm...Maybe Oprah?...Please give me a break..
3 out of 100 applying for writing positions are women. Geeez, I think that probably explains everything. Let's face it, very, very few women are funny.
