Like it, and also agree that it is a new genre that can best be described as New or Contemporary Country to distinguish it from Traditional

There is no other venue for the kind of music they sing...so they use "Country", even though they are NOT Country.

Modern "Country" is really just bad rock.

Some "new country" acts are good, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, good stuff. Taylor Swift is crap.

Just like "Smooth Jazz" is not Jazz, one has to agree that "New Country" is not Country; Its Rock n Roll with fiddle, steel guitar, & twang

I like tranditioanl and the new country music but it is not traditional country and should have a differant name.

It's 'engineered' music, aimed at the uneducated, under the guise of Country Music. It's more like pop music than true country.

Like Mr. Jones, I prefer the more traditional music. the newer artists are attempting to fit rock into a country genra.

Most of it is pure pop music and doesn't belong under country.

its pop music for middle age folks, and a four bar fiddle break don't make it country

I was country, when country wasn't cool. My Dad says it's screaming,--not singing--to a rock & roll beat. Very little to do with Country.

All music genres evolve over the years. The really good creative artists are able to spot the trends and give the public what they want.

The Possum is right. While this type of music isn't bad, it should take more than being produced in Nashville to be called country music.

"Back in the day" if you played a country LP backwards, you got your job back, your wife back, the dog got better and the truck ran again.

I think ole George is right to an extent, you really cant call it country music. Carrie U and Taylor S need thier own catagory.

George Jones is right on target. These country
singers today wouldn't make a pimple on the rectum
                of a real country singer.

I miss real country music. Today's "country" is little more than witless pop with all the gloss and void, addingly only a twang.

they should call it Southern Suburban Music, not Country, b/c that's who it is geared to

The next innovation is a merging of country with rap. They are going to call it "crap."

Any genre of music will evolve over time. Example: We have rock music that doesn't sound like Elvis, but it's still rock. Jones is wrong.
